This incredible Viking period gold & agate elf shot pendant is a superb example of a fascinating piece of jewellery steeped in history dating back to the 9th – 10th century. The gold pendant top has been finely crafted to a very high standard, comprising of a gold cylinder attached to an openwork dome. A barrel shaped orange agate is inserted into the metalwork resulting in a fine and intriguing piece of historic jewellery. A part of our ancient jewellery collection.

Elf shot pendants were worn by men and women in Viking and Anglo Saxon societies to worn off elves from shooting arrows at them. They believed that if they had a pain that couldn’t be explained such as rheumatism or arthritis, the cause was invisible elves shooting poison arrows at them that may eventually prove fatal. Gold jewellery was also a show of wealth and could be used as currency.

CONDITION
Good. This Viking period gold & agate elf shot pendant is in lovely condition and is a superb example of jewellery from this era and culture. The metalwork is in overall good condition, two gold strands of gold are bent and there is a small resin repair. The agate is in excellent order and may not be original, it is set firmly into place in the metal structure. Overall the pendant is in great condition, only showing some minor imperfections usual with age.

We are unable to offer our usual 2 year guarantee with ancient items.

Orders outside of the United Kingdom are sent by Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed, Parcelforce Global Priority or by DHL International Shipping. Standard services take approximately 1-5 days to arrive dependent on the destination. Local customs can sometimes affect delivery times. 

If you have requested for a ring to be sized please allow an additional 3-5 days working days for the item to be delivered.

If your item is an antique (over 100 years old) we will mark it as such. In most countries antiques are not subject to import taxes.

We do not ship to postal boxes addresses. 

 

Returns Info

At Robert Harris Jewellers we provide a guarantee for every item of jewellery we sell for two years. We value our customer’s piece of mind, therefore each product is fully guaranteed whether a new or pre-owned item.

If you are not satisfied with your purchase please inform us and return the item within 30 days. We will issue a refund within two working days of receiving the goods back by the method you paid by.

If returning an item please send the package back by a secure, trackable and fully insured service as it is the customers responsibility that the item is returned successfully. 

If you are outside of the UK, please mark the package “Return of Sample Merchandise from UK”. If it is an antique item, please state “Antique – Over 100 Years Old”.

Please note that the customer is responsible for any return costs. Please ensure that the products are well packaged when returned and that we receive them in the condition that you received them in. If we receive any product in a lesser condition we will not be able to issue a refund.

We cannot be responsible for reclaiming any taxes that you may be charged by your local customs. We can provide you with a confirmation that an item has been returned to assist you in doing so.

Layaway Payments

 

You can secure an item with a 10% deposit and then pay the remainder interest free over an agreed time period of up to 6 months.

If you wish to cancel the payment scheme; the 10% deposit is non-refundable, any other payments are.

We will view each case individually and will do our best to agree a payment scheme that suits you.

With our layaway scheme, there is nothing to sign and we do not need to carry out any credit checks.

Payments can be made by credit / debit card, by bank transfer or by cash store.

The item will be sent to you once it has been fully paid for.
