A restrung composition necklace of faience mummy beads. The string consists of multicoloured disc-shaped beads, interspersed with blue and green tubular beads. There is a central mummiform 'ushabti' pendant strung to the centre. A modern fastening is attached.
The Egyptians used beaded jewellery to honour their dead or would wear jewellery made from faience beads in their everyday life. The shabti was placed in a grave with a deceased person and intended to carry out work for them in the afterlife.
