Cleaning

We recommend cleaning and polishing your jewellery using professional jewellery cleaning cloths and creams. If these are not available, a soft, lint free cloth can be used for gentle everyday care.

To keep diamonds looking their best and to maximise their brilliance, gently clean them from the top and behind using a soft toothbrush and warm, mildly soapy water. Rinse thoroughly to remove any residue and dry carefully.

Many coloured gemstones can react poorly to soap and should instead be wiped gently with a soft cloth. Again, a soft toothbrush with warm, clean water may be used to carefully clean behind the stone if needed.

Pearls are particularly delicate and have a low resistance to heat. They should be cleaned only by gently wiping with a soft cloth.

Silver, especially when not rhodium plated, is more prone to tarnishing. Regular wear can help reduce this, and a silver polishing cloth is an inexpensive and effective way to restore its natural lustre.

What to Avoid

Perfumes, body sprays, creams, and deodorants can leave residue on jewellery, dulling its appearance. We recommend applying these products before putting your jewellery on.

Soapy water and hand lotions can gradually build up beneath jewellery, particularly rings. Removing your rings regularly for a quick clean will help maintain their shine.

Chlorinated water and household cleaning products can be particularly harmful and may cause tarnishing or damage. Jewellery should always be removed before swimming or cleaning.

Opals require special care, as sudden changes in temperature, such as hot or cold water, can cause cracking.

It is best to avoid wearing jewellery during heavy work, at the gym or gardening, as stones and settings can be easily damaged.

Please also note that higher carat gold is softer and therefore more susceptible to wear and damage.

Care and Storage

Always store jewellery individually in a soft jewellery box or pouch to prevent scratching and unnecessary wear.
